Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-03-06 13:33

Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Tuesday afternoon will go on a three-day visit to Japan to boost ties with Tokyo and restore confidence after last year's catastrophic floods, Bangkok Post online reported.

The trip is Yingluck's first official visit to Japan since she was appointed Thailand's prime minister in August 2011. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations with Tokyo in many areas.

The premier is scheduled to have an audience with Japan's Crown Prince Naruhito and will meet with her Japanese counterpart Yoshihiko Noda during the three-day trip.

The premier and her delegation will use the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Japan to deepen the two nations' strategic partnership in politics, security, economy and society through both bilateral and multilateral frameworks as well as enhance collaboration with Tokyo in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) and the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) countries.

Yingluck will also assure the Japanese private and public sectors that the Thai government has clear and comprehensive flood- prevention plans in place in a bid to restore confidence after the great floods last year.

Yingluck's delegation will include ministers of foreign affairs, information and communication technology, commerce and industry.
