Train-tanker collision injures over 50 in southern Thailand |

More than 50 people were injured when a passenger express train collided with a tank truck at a railway crossing in Thailand's southern province of Surat Thani on Sunday morning.
According to an official of the State Railway of Thailand, the accident occurred at about 8.25 a.m. local time in Phun Phin district, Surat Thani province while the train was bound for the southernmost Yala province from Bangkok.
The road tanker loaded with about 15,000 liters of fuel cut in front of the train at the railway crossing without barrier; one bogie derailed with more than 50 of 180 on board the train injured.
The two drivers of the train were seriously wounded. All injured were already admitted to hospital. |
