Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-03-26 16:54

Four Thai people were arrested by Cambodian troops for illegal entry on Sunday night while entering Cambodia's Banteay Meanchey province, local media Komchadluek reported Monday.

According to the police report, before they were arrested the four Thais including two couples were traveling on two pick-up trucks into a district inside Cambodian territory, opposite from Thailand's northeastern Sa Kaew province and about nine kilometers away from Thai border.

Sa Kaew Immigration Police deputy commander Pol Lt Col Benjapol Rodsawad said that those four Thais were sent for interrogation at a military base in the neighboring country and would be brought to trial at a court in Banteay Meanchey province Monday afternoon.

Sa Kaew's immigration police chief said Thai police were now coordinating with their counterparts to urgently help those detainees.
