South Korea has decided to offer 1 million U.S. dollars in humanitarian aid to strife-torn Syria, the foreign ministry said here Friday.
The aid will be delivered via the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) initially.
The move coincides with international calls to resolve the humanitarian crisis in Syria, where President Bashar Assad's crackdown on pro-democracy protests has killed some 9,000 people and forced 40,000 to flee.
Details of the plan will be announced at the "Friends of Syria" meeting in Turkey which will take place on Sunday, according to the ministry. |
