Indian gov't to soon solve ammunition shortage
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-05-07 18:00

The Indian government Monday said that it's working for a speedy solution to the country's ammunition shortage in the wake of a leaked letter by Army chief V. K. Singh to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in this regard in the recent past.

"We found deficiencies in certain areas. We are taking decisions to speed up procurement. We are working towards a speedy solution. As far as the armed forces are concerned, they are ready to face any challenge," Indian Defense Minister A.K. Antony told the Parliament.

In his letter to the prime minister in March, the Army chief had pointed out that the country has got only 10 days of ammunition left.

The Defense Minister said that after the letter, at least two meetings were held by the government and the army to address the problem.
