A South Korean lawmaker was sentenced to two years in prison Wednesday for illegal campaigning ahead of the April parliamentary elections.
Park Joo-sun, an independent previously affiliated with the main opposition Democratic United Party, is accused of violating election laws by mobilizing private groups for mobile voting.
The 64-year-old three-term lawmaker won a seat in Gwangju in the April polls, but he faces losing his seat if the Supreme Court upholds the sentence. |
