Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Thursday called on transport ministries of Vietnam and Laos to continue to closely cooperate and support each other in bilateral and multilateral transport activities.

The two ministries should boost cooperation both in depth and width, and with practical and efficient results, Phuc said during a meeting with visiting Lao Minister of Public Works and Transport, Sommad Pholsena.

The two sides should especially expand tourism transportation by roadway and along the East-West Corridor, he stressed.

The Lao transport minister highly evaluated the efforts and assistance from Vietnamese experts to the development of Laos' transport infrastructure, and expressed his wish that the two countries' traditional friendship and cooperation would facilitate the transport sector in each country.

Sommad Pholsena suggested Vietnam support Laos in exchange of experience and expertise in the transport field, as well as help Laos in developing its transport sector.
