With communal tension prevailing in the Bodoland Territorial Administered Districts ( BTAD) Thursday morning with agitators blocking railway and highways, trouble is brewing in another area of India's northeast state of Assam.
The Dimasa tribesmen residing in North Cachar Hills district in southern Assam have called for a 48-hour general strike demanding a separate state from Assam, a local television in Guwahati, state capital reported.
The strike has been supported by the Indian Students' Association, a front backed by Naxalite rebels. |
