India's ruling Congress Party Wednesday demanded quick execution of Mohamed Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone surviving militant caught alive in Mumbai terror attacks in 2008, hours after the country's Supreme Court upheld his death penalty.
"Now, Kasab's penalty should be executed as soon as possible," Congress General Secretary Digbijay Singh told the media in the national capital.
The apex court upheld Kasab's death penalty handed out to him by a special Indian court in May 2010 and subsequently confirmed by the High Court in Mumbai for his role in the terror attacks on the country's financial capital in November 2008.
Kasab and nine other Pakistani terrorists entered Mumbai through sea route in November 2008 and carried out the massacre in which over 170 people were killed and more than 300 injured. |
