Nine more persons were killed and five others injured on Sunday as several houses caved in following a series of cloudbursts in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, reported local media.

This took the death toll from cloudbursts in Uttarakhand to 47 over the past few days. The cloudbursts led to landslide, house collapsing and flooding, said Press Trust of India.

All the incidents took place in the state's Rudraprayag district, where cloudbursts struck four villages on Sunday. Meanwhile, 23 others were still missing from the cloudburst incidents.

Local authorities have launched rescue and relief operation for the people struck by the disaster in the hilly state.
