S. Korea, Peru to enhance naval cooperation

South Korean and Peruvian naval forces have agreed to expand military exchanges and defense industry cooperation, South Korea's Navy said here Thursday.

South Korea's Navy chief Choi Yun-hee and his Peruvian counterpart Carlos Tejada signed a memorandum of understanding at the naval academy in South Korea's port city of Jinhae.

Under the MOU, South Korea is expected to offer military training for the Peruvian counterparts on operation of naval vessels they plan to jointly build.

The agreement also calls for exchanges between military officials and experts.
