Two destroyers from the South Korean navy visited Russia's Far Eastern port of Vladivostok on Sunday, a spokesman with Russia's Pacific Fleet said.
The South Korean warships, on a two-day business visit to Russia, will stay in the city till Tuesday, spokesman Roman Martov told local media.
"The welcoming ceremony was held at the Golden Horn Bay. Pacific Fleet's missile cruiser Varyag plays the role of the host ship," RIA Novosti quoted Martov as saying.
The delegation will meet with Pacific Fleet's command staff and local authorities, and have friendly sports competitions with Russian military staff, the fleet's press service said.
The guided missile destroyer USS Vandegrift of the U.S. Navy will visit Vladivostok on Sept. 19-22 and a Japanese naval task force will call at the Russian port on Sept. 23 for joint anti-piracy drills, said the press service.
Located on the Muravyov-Amursky Peninsula, Vladivostok is the administrative capital of Primorsky Territory and the home port of the Russian Pacific Fleet. |
