Pakistan on Saturday sent condolences to Egypt over a tragic road accident in which reports said 47 children were killed, the Foreign Ministry said.
"The government of Pakistan is deeply shocked to learn about the tragic accident between a school bus carrying 60 children and a train in the south of Cairo," a Foreign Ministry statement said.
"We are deeply saddened by the reports that the death toll may have reached 47," it said.
It is reported that the children from a nursery school who aged from four to six years died after a train hit their school bus in central Egypt.
Pakistan offered its sincere condolences and sympathies to the government of Egypt and "our heart goes out" to the bereaved parents and families who have lost their near and dear ones, the statement said.
"We sincerely pray for the early and full recovery of those injured in the unfortunate accident," the Foreign Ministry said.
According to the Egyptian state media, the country's transport minister has resigned after the tragic accident. |
