1 killed, 16 injured in S. Thailand railway bombing |

A home-made bomb hit a local train in southern Thailand's Narathiwat province on Sunday, killing one people and wounding 16 others including passengers and train staff, local media reported.
The bomb was planted on the railway track at a local train station in Rueso district and was detonated while a train stopped at the station, a police said.
A hole about 3 metres in diametre and 2 metres deep was left in the rail track. Two passenger cars were derailed.
A defense volunteer was killed on the spot. The wounded, including one railway police officer and two train ticket inspectors, have been rushed to a nearby hospital. Many of them suffer from seriously injuries.
Train services on the route have been suspended. |
