S. Korea to launch space rocket next week
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-11-23 17:22

South Korea said Thursday it would launch a space rocket next week, over a month after it put off the launch due to a last-minute technical glitch.

The science ministry and the state-run Korea Aerospace Research Institute have decided to launch the Korea Space Launch Vehicle-1 (KSLV-1), also known as Naro-1, on Nov 29.

The scheduled Oct 26 launch was delayed due to a malfunction detected in the rocket's first stage only hours before its planned lift-off.

Russia designed and manufactured the rocket's first stage, while South Korea built its solid-fueled second stage.

The renewed attempt will mark South Korea's third attempt to put a satellite into orbit after two previous attempts in 2009 and 2010 failed.
