Indian policeman injured in protests against gang rape dies |

An Indian policeman who was injured during protests on Sunday has died of heart arrest, said a police spokesman on Tuesday.
Subhash Tomar was injured during against a gang rape last week and then sent to hospital. His condition deteriorated during the night and died Tuesday morning, Delhi Police spokesman Rajan Bhagat said.
Tomar was reportedly beaten up and trampled upon by protesters after he fell down during the protests.
Police will charge eight suspects with murder in the case, said the spokesman.
Protesters, mainly college students, held huge protests Saturday and Sunday in central Delhi, demanding justice for a 23- year-old woman who was gangraped and brutalized by six men on a moving bus on Dec. 16.
Some violent clashes took place between police and the protesters, leaving a dozen injured. |
