South Korean President-elect Park Geun-hye's transition committee announced Tuesday the incoming government will newly establish ministries overseeing the country' s science and maritime affairs.
Under a comprehensive reshuffle plan announced by Kim Yong-jun, the chairman of the transition committee, the Park administration will newly establish the ministry of science and the ministry of maritime affairs and fisheries.
Park, who replaces incumbent president Lee Myung-bak next month, also plans to recreate the position of deputy prime minister of finance and economy and expand the current economy ministry to include trade affairs currently overseen by the foreign ministry.
The education ministry has been handling science and technology issues, and Lee had abolished the maritime affairs ministry. |
