In South Korea, the search continues for missing passengers on the ferry which capsized over two weeks ago. The confirmed death toll has now risen to 219, with another 83 missing.
Authorities say they expect to complete the search and rescue operations by mid-May.
More than a hundred divers have been involved in the search on Thursday. They were helped by the deployment of a diving bell. Divers have now searched at least 44 cabins.
Thursday’s operation has been focusing on the fourth level cabins and fifth level central hall. But strong winds, high waves and rain have hampered the search.
South Korean authorities have confirmed reports that containers were not properly secured. Some containers on board the ferry were found to have been completely unsecured.
