Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych on Tuesday put forward a proposal on energy security for his country.
In a speech before parliament, Yanukovych said that exploiting energy-saving technologies to ensure Ukraine's energy security is one of the top priorities this year.
A draft bill to reform Ukraine's national oil and gas company Naftogaz should be high on the agenda, the president said.
In order to reduce its dependence on natural gas imports, Ukraine also needs to develop its coal industry, Yanukovych said.
He urged the parliament to introduce a bill to help the country upgrade its energy market. |
