Hollande congratulates Harosh on Nobel Prize win

French President Francois Hollande congratulated on Tuesday the his compatriot scientist Serge Haroche for his wining of the Nobel Physics Prize.

"I congratulate Serge Haroche for the Nobel Prize that has been awarded to him. He is a great specialist in quantum optics," Hollade said in statement.

"This (Nobel prize) is a pride for our country and a great satisfaction for all the French researchs," he added.

Haroche shared the 2012 Nobel Prize in Physics with David J. Wineland from the United States for their work on interaction between light and matter.

"I'm very surprised and happy to know the news this morning. The researches which are rewarded today are the culmination of very long years of group's work," the French laureate told reporters.

Born in Casablanca, Morocco in 1944, Haroche was the 13th French laureate of Nobel Physics Prize in a century. He was graduated from University of Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris and is Professor at College of France and Ecole Normale Superieure of Paris.
