| Russia announces fresh funds for Hermitage Museum extension |

Russia announced a 7.4 -billion-ruble (240-million-U.S. dollar) plan Friday to further extend renowned Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.
The newly developed 80,000-square-meter space will allow the museum to open more of the Hermitage's vast collection to the public.
With tourist numbers surging in recent years, Russian authorities have been working since 2003 to expand the complex. The extension project is due to be completed in 2014 to coincide with the museum's 250th anniversary. |
