The gross disposable income of households and non-for-profit organizations decreased by 1.6 percent in the third quarter compared with the same period of 2011, official report said on Wednesday.

According to the Spanish National Institute of Statistics (INE), the figure was at 164.68 billion euros (215.21 billion U.S. dollars), 2.71 billion lower than the income estimated in the third quarter of the previous year.

The INE attributed this decline to lower wages and increased income and wealth tax.

On same day, a study by the EADA Business School and human resources consultancy ICSA showed the difference in earnings between management and workers in Spain grew by 4 percent in Spain during 2012

The study found that the average earning for top managers rose by 3.16 percent during the year to 75,106 euros annually, while those for middle management remained more or less stable at 37,700 euros, and for the average employees, down by 1 percent to 21,408 euros. (1 euro = 1.32 U.S. dollars)
