Dutch Greenpeace activist Faiza Oulahsen, who was detained following attempt to land on a Russian oil rig in September, has been granted bail by a Russian court, Dutch media reported on Wednesday.

Her case was suspended, the judge of the Primorsky district court in St. Petersburg ruled.

"Thank you to all the supporters out there calling for our release. You gave us hope. You gave us strength," she said after the decision. The conditions of her bail are not yet known.

Oulahsen is among activists on board Greenpeace's Arctic Sunrise ship. They were detained on Sept. 19 by the Russian authorities after attempting to stage a protest against oil drilling at Prirazlomnaya platform in the Pechora Sea

The hearing in the case of the other Dutch crew member, Mannes Ubels, has also started.

The group was originally arrested and indicted for piracy and could, according to Russian law, be imprisoned up to 15 years. Investigators stated piracy charges were already dropped, but Greenpeace lawyers said those charges have still not been formally removed.

Some other activists on board of the Arctic Sunrise ship have been released on Monday and Tuesday. The court ruled that the activists would be released upon paying a bail of 2 million rubles (62,500 U.S. dollars) each.

So far only Australian Colin Russell must remain in jail until Feb. 24 pending investigation. His request for bail or house arrest was denied.
