Ukraine this year would intensify efforts to simplify its tax collection procedure, acting Minister of Revenue and Duties Olexandr Klymenko said here Thursday.
"According to our calculations, it is advisable to reduce the types of tax payments to 14 from 22 to facilitate financial data reporting," Klymenko told a press briefing.
In order to ease administrative barriers for businesses, Ukraine would also simplify customs control procedures through implementation of a post-audit policy, Klymenko said.
In addition, the government was mulling changes to the income tax collection mechanism to bring it closer to international standards, Klymenko said.
As a part of the country's ongoing taxation system reform, Kiev last year slashed the types of tax payments to 22 from 28 in 2012, expanded options on its online payment system and extended tax privileges on knowledge-intensive industries.
In 2013, the Revenue and Duties Ministry collected 34.102 billion U.S. dollars in taxes, up 0.7 percent from the year before.
