Several thousand Polish firms which export their goods to Ukraine are closely following the country's situation, according to local press on Wednesday.
According to the Polish-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce, of some 3 to 4 thousand Polish firms doing business with Ukraine, 1.5 thousand are dependent upon exports to that country.
The chamber's Dmitri Schmidt said that the three-month long protests and the latest escalation of violence in Kiev had had a limited influence on Polish businesses, but added that companies which planned to start or expand businesses with Ukraine had to wait to make final decisions until the situation clears up.
"Entrepreneurs are aware that sooner or later the crisis will end and they will have to return to doing business," Schmidt said.
Poland is the fifth largest supplier of goods to Ukraine. Poland's exports to Ukraine grew 12 percent year on year in 2012 and 6 percent during the first 11 months of 2013.
