The Slovenian cabinet completed its reshuffle with new ministers of economy, health and minister without portfolio for Slovenians abroad appointed by the National Assembly on Monday.

Based on a vote in parliament session, Metod Dragonja, the former CEO of drug maker Lek was appointed as economy minister, Alenka Trop Skaza as health minister, while Gorazd Zmavc, lawyer and long-time DeSUS party member, minister without portfolio for Slovenians abroad.

The reshuffle, following the resignation of ministers of health and economy three months ago, is the first major change in the coalition government headed by Prime Minister Alenka Bratusek since her cabinet was sworn in March 2013.

Addressing parliament when presenting three ministerial nominees early in the day, Bratusek expressed belief that the new formation of the cabinet would bring a turnaround in terms of national economy and government operations.

A turn for the better is "possible and needed," she said.

The long-awaited change in the cabinet is likely to improve political situation in the country, the coalition government officials told reporters after the appointment.
