EU to grant 11 bn euros in assistance to Ukraine
The Eurorpean Union (EU) on Wednesday agreed a package of support measures worth 11 billion euros (15 billion U.S. dollars) in assistance to Ukraine.
According to the EU's statement, 3 billion euros would come from the EU budget, 1.6 billion euros would be given in macro financial assistance loans (MFA) and 1.4 billion euros in an assistance package of grants.
Up to 8 billion euros would stem from the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
"The most immediate priority for the EU is to contribute to a peaceful solution to the current crisis, in full respect of international law", said European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso.
