Fire at Russian drug rehabilitation center kills 8
At least eight people were killed when a fire hit a drug addiction rehabilitation center in Russia's Altai territory in West Siberia, local media said Sunday.
The flame emerged on Sunday morning in a one-story building made of slag blocks with wooden ceilings. Eight people have been confirmed dead after the fire was extinguished, the regional emergency department said.
"Six people who were injured are undergoing treatment at the central district hospital. They are being given medical aid," Itar-Tass news agency quoted it as saying.
It was not clear how many people were in the building when the fire broke out. A criminal case has been opened over the incident.
