Russia reiterated Thursday that Ukraine must solve its months-long political crisis domestically and not rely on foreign guidance.

"It is obvious from Ukraine's example that even the most influential allies and supporters are unable to solve the country's basic problems," RIA Novosti news agency quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin as saying.

The Ukrainian people must settle their disputes over nation-building and balance of interests on their own, he said.

Karasin said Ukrainian authorities had failed to govern the country using only force and Kiev's domestic policy was "reckless".

"Gambling leads to an even deeper long-term crisis which could only be escaped at the cost of the suffering of the entire nation," he said.

Earlier this week, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev accused the Ukrainian leadership of "losing adequacy," citing Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk's refusal to settle a gas price dispute and the "paranoid behavior" of then acting Foreign Minister Andriy Deshchytsya, who targeted an insulting outburst at Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In May, a Moscow-led military alliance, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, which comprises Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Belarus, warned that no international military-political bloc should interfere in the Ukraine crisis.
