Dutch newspapers on Thursday reported on the "impressive tribute" paid to Dutch MH17 victims as the Netherlands marked a national day of mourning.

Dutch King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte were present as planes carrying the bodies of the MH17 crash arrived from eastern Ukraine at Eindhoven Airport on Wednesday.

This was followed by a short, somber mourning ceremony attended by hundreds of relatives. A minute of silence was then observed nationwide.

Separate hearses transported the coffins in a long convoy to Hilversum, where the victims will be identified in the Corporal Van Oudheusden barracks. Along the way, thousands of people lined up to honor the victims.

Dutch newspapers printed a full-page picture of the convoy. De Volkskrant reads "Netherlands pays respect," while the Algemeen Dagblad published a full-page photograph of the convoy with the text: "Together."

Trouw wrote about "a day that unfolded spontaneously and respectfully."

The national mourning day was described as "impressive" by all media.
