The head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation to Albania on Tuesday declared that the Albanian economy is immune to a possible bankruptcy of Greece.

Naadem Ilahi made the remarks during a joint conference in Tirana with Albanian Minister of Finance Shkelqim Cani, Minister of Economic Development Arben Ahmetaj and the Bank of Albania's Governor, Gent Sejko as well as other experts on economy.

"The IMF does not predict any serious risk from the Greek crisis since Greek banks have lost their influence on the Albanian market since years," declared Ilahi.

The chief of the IMF mission said that the banking system is safe, but he encouraged the government to be attentive to every new development.

The head of the IMF mission also said that the economic growth in Albania was expected to improve in the second half of the year, according to Albanian Daily News.
