A man wanted by German police for suspected terror crimes was arrested at Stockholm's Arlanda Airport Wednesday morning, Swedish media reported.

Prosecutor Ronnie Jacobsson confirmed the man is suspected of terrorism in Germany and said he had been detained and would be allocated a public prosecutor and questioned on Wednesday afternoon.

The apparent terrorist act was not committed in Sweden and the man was in transit at Arlanda airport, Jacobsson told Swedish Television.

Swedish police have given few details about the arrest, only confirming it happened at 8:30 a.m. local time (0630 GMT) and that the man was wanted by German police, who had issued an international arrest warrant for him.

Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet reported that the man was arrested in Arlanda's international departure hall and was on his way to Turkey when a passport inspector raised an alarm and called police.

According to Aftonbladet, Sweden's intelligence service Sapo has taken over the case, but Sapo has yet to confirm that information.

"We know about the case but I cannot go into any detail regarding what measures have been taken," Sapo press spokesperson Fredrik Milder told news agency TT.
