Czech government on Monday approved to introduce the new face- and car number plates-reading systems to the international airports outside capital Prague.

Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said at a press conference that the measures will cost about 672 million crowns (about 30.13 million U.S. dollars).

According to Czech Interior Ministry, the international airports in Karlovy Vary, west Bohemia, Brno, Ostrava and Pardubice have an insufficient level of integration of security systems and a low capacity of controlling dangerous objects and chemical substances.

They lack a blanket radiation detection and shortcomings exist in control of entrance to airport spaces closed to the public, it said.

The Ministry wants these airports to have the same security standards as the Prague international airport. And all airports are to get documents- and boarding passes-readers.

The cost for the introduction of the new security system will be covered by the government, and the system is to be operational by the end of 2020.

Moreover, the Ministry will also set about 89 million crowns (about 3.99 million U.S. dollars) for the modernisation of Prague Airport's security system. (1 U.S. dollar = 22.3 crowns)
