Man arrested after taking woman hostage at Dutch Media Park
Dutch police arrested a man suspected of taking a woman hostage at the Dutch Media Park in Hilversum on Thursday.
The man threatened a woman early Thursday morning with a knife. Later they entered the building of Dutch public broadcaster NPO.
Soon police arrived, and a negotiator entered the building to try to make contact with the man, who was later arrested.
The nature of the man's relationship with the woman remains unclear. According to reports by broadcaster NOS, the woman is an NPO employee.
NOS also said that the man had entered the building holding a big knife to her throat and that he had wanted to speak to someone from U.S. news channel CNN.
