Bahrain to test new siren system amid war concerns
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-01-11 21:17

Bahrain's civil defense administration announced Wednesday that a test would be carried out for a newly-introduced siren system on Thursday morning.

Announcing the test to be carried out at 10:00 a.m., the administration called for public cooperation.

However, the administration didn't explain for what purpose the new siren system is to be launched and whether the move is to prepare for a potential war if Iran goes ahead with the warning to block the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz, connecting the Persian Gulf with the Sea of Oman, is one of the world's most critical oil routes. Iranian officials have repeatedly warned the West against potential sanctions on Iran's oil exports, saying that Iran will block the Strait of Hormuz if its interests are threatened.
