Chairman of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, said dialogue is the best way to resolve " misunderstandings" between Iran and the European Union (EU), the semi-official Fars news agency reported on Monday.
Iran welcomes enhanced cooperation with Europe in political, economic and parliamentary field, Boroujerdi said in a meeting with Danish Ambassador Anders Christian Hougaard on Sunday.
However, not long ago, Iranian lawmakers were reportedly discussing cuts on oil exports to the EU as a preemptive move in response to the bloc's fresh sanctions targeting its oil sales.
Iranian Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani said on Sunday that the idea of oil export cuts needs further discussion and the final decision will be announced in the future.
On another related note, Iran's Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi said on Saturday that Tehran will definitely stop its oil exports to certain European countries.
Qasemi has called on the EU to review its decision to embargo Iran's oil sales, dismissing the threat of such a move as limited because the EU only imports one fifth of the total foreign sales of Iran's oil. |
