Western pressures to reinforce Iranians' resolve
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-02-12 19:03

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said that western pressures on Iran will reinforce Iranians' resolve to pursue their rights, local satellite Press TV reported on Sunday.

Referring to a number of western pressures, including the economic sanctions against the country, Mehmanparast said on Saturday that "such growing pressures have only intensified the Iranians' resolve to defend the country" and their rights.

Since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, the U.S. has continuously sought to provoke crisis in Iran in an attempt to fuel discontent among the people, he said, but Iran has moved forward and the Islamic Revolution has inspired Islamic movements in the region.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Saturday that Iran will not yield to Western pressures to quit its rights.

Ahmadinejad made the remarks addressing a large crowd of people gathered at Tehran's Azadi (liberty) Square on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi said Iran would not give in to any threat by Western countries over its nuclear program since it has taken the proper precautions to counter every possible scenario.

Iran is under Western sanction pressures over its insistence on pursuing nuclear enrichment activities. The West suspects that Iran is developing nuclear program to the weapon grade, the allegations which the Islamic Republic rejects.
