Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Kamel Amr has said that arming the Syrian opposition means to enter a civil war, Egypt's official Nile TV reported Tuesday.
In an interview with Nile TV, Amr condemned the killing of innocent citizens in Syria and stressed the necessity to solve the Syrian crisis via dialogues and through an Arab solution rather than international interference.
The Arab League (AL) has played a great role in trying to reach a peaceful settlement between the Syrian government and the opposition via dialogues, Amr said, adding that "It is important to give the UN and AL's joint special envoy for Syria Kofi Annan a chance to work on solving the crisis."
The minister said Egypt delayed recalling its ambassador from Syria in order to remain acquainted with the real situation in the country.
He also noted that the medical and humanitarian aids could not be provided to Syrians without the approval of the Syrian government. |
