The Iranian Foreign Ministry on Sunday strongly condemned the Israeli air raids on the Gaza Strip as "war crimes", the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

"The repeated assaults and aggressions of the Zionist regime's military men against the defenseless Palestinian people in Gaza... are condemned as war crimes and inhuman acts," the Iranian foreign ministry said in a statement.

The statement also blasted some international community for their silence on Israel's crimes in Gaza, and said, "The international community and the human rights bodies are required not to keep mum about such flagrant violations of human rights and massacre of the defenseless Palestinian people by the Zionists and act upon their human and legal duty and responsibility for defending the Palestinian people," according to Fars.

The ongoing conflicts between Israel and militant groups in the Gaza Strip have left 14 militants killed and more than 20 Palestinians injured, as militants kept launching rockets at Israel and Israeli war jets struck back, medics said.
