Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-03-15 16:07

Iraq announced the formal logo of the upcoming 23th Arab League (AL) summit, scheduled to be held in late March in Baghdad, a government spokesman said in a statement on Thursday.

"The logo has the shape of a bird with its feathers represent( ing) the flags of all Arab countries, surrounding the flag and the logo of the Arab League," Ali al-Dabbagh, who is also the spokesman of the AL summit, said in a statement posted on his official website.

The design also shapes the letter B (in Arabic), representing the first letter of the word "Baghdad," Dabbagh said.

The whole design is surrounded by two palm leafs as the symbol for the main tree in Iraq and the Arab world, he said, adding "The design, in general, reflects the interrelation between Iraq and its Arab arena."

Baghdad said it has completed its preparation for the summit and is ready to receive the Arab leaders.

Iraq sees the summit as a significant milestone in its history that would lead the country to play a powerful and positive role in the Arab world.
