Palestinian medics on Wednesday evacuated the body of a Palestinian hours after he was shot dead by Israeli forces near the Gaza-Israel border, a person working with the ambulance said.

The Palestinian ambulance workers, in cooperation with personnel from the International Committee of the Red Cross, found the body near the armistice line in eastern Gaza City, said the spokesperson, Adham Abu Selmia.

There were no details about the identity of the dead, he added.

Israel Radio reported that Israeli soldiers fired at the Palestinian after he was spotted approaching the security fence " suspiciously."

The report added that the soldiers arrested two unarmed Palestinians in the area and took them for questioning.

On Tuesday, Israel returned the body of a Palestinian militant who was killed Saturday on the security fence between Gaza and Israel.

A few years ago, Israel allocated a 300-meter-wide buffer zone along its southern borders with the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. Israel says the zone aims to distance militants from the fence.

Also Tuesday, Israeli airplanes dropped thousands of leaflets renewing warnings to the Palestinians not to enter the no-go zone. One of the leaflets, obtained by Xinhua, carried a map specifying the zone.
