Lebanese police on Thursday received a phone call threatening to kill three judges at Baabda Justice Palace east of the capital Beirut, the official National News Agency reported.
The report quoted security sources as saying the caller identified himself as Youssef and used the cell phone number 71- 792-102.
"Today, three judges at Baabda will be assassinated," the caller told the operator at the police station of Aley, a city southeast of Beirut.
Judicial authorities received similar threats in the past two years. Security sources say the method is used to delay trials.
On June 8, 1999, unidentified gunmen broke into Sidon Justice Palace and shot and killed four Lebanese judges. |
