Iran's Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi left Tehran for Kuwait on Sunday for talks with Kuwaiti officials on bilateral ties as well as the recent developments in the region, local satellite Press TV reported.
The foreign minister will also extend Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's invitation to Kuwaiti Emir to take part in the next Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Tehran, said the report.
Salehi is also expected to hold talks about the recent move of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for a union plan which Iranian officials have condemned as a ground for Saudi Arabian unity with Bahrain.
During the 14th GCC summit that concluded in Saudi capital Riyadh last week, leaders of GCC members, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, discussed whether to establish a closer union for the six states. |
