Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan dismissed Thursday accusations of the Syrian information minister that Turkey was involved in Wednesday's Damascus bombing that left three senior officials killed and some others injured.

The semiofficial Anatolia news agency quoted Erdogan as saying that Ankara would never do such things to the "fraternal" people of Syria.

"The (Syrian) regime needs to ask itself how the opposition was formed and how these defections within the army appeared," he said. "The accusations of (Syrian) information minister are unacceptable. "

The Syrian information minister was quoted by local media as saying that foreign intelligence agencies, including that of Turkey, were behind the blast that ripped through a security compound hosting a meeting of top officials and cronies to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The blast killed Syrian Defense Minister Dawood Rajha, his deputy Assef Shawkat and Assistant Vice President Hassan Turkmani.
