An Israeli airstrike killed a Palestinian militant and seriously injured another in the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah, medical sources and witnesses said Sunday.

An Israeli drone fired a missile at the city, killing Eid Oukal, 23, and wounding his colleague.

The two are members of the Popular Resistance Committees, a militant group loyal to the Islamic Hamas movement, which governs the Gaza Strip.

There was no immediate Israeli comment on the operation, which comes more than two months after relative calm that followed the death of 14 Palestinians in a week-long wave of violence.
