Israeli war jets strike on Gaza militants' camp
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-09-01 05:51

At least two Palestinians were injured after Israeli war jets struck on Friday night a training camp belonging to militants loyal to Islamic Hamas movement in northern Gaza City, witnesses and medics said.

The witnesses said that two huge successive explosions were heard in the northern neighborhood of Gaza City, adding that the blasts were caused by two missiles from F16 war jets, which were hovering over the city.

Ambulances rushed to the targeted area, which was apparently evacuated before the airstrike was carried out. Medics at Shifa Hospital said that two were wounded -- one in moderate conditions.

The Israeli airstrike on the militants training camp was an Israeli response to an earlier rockets attack on southern Israel, which caused severe damage to a house in the area but no injuries.

Israel has vowed to carry out harsher measures on the Gaza Strip, which has been ruled by Hamas since 2007, to rein on militants who fire homemade rockets and projectiles from the coastal enclave at southern Israel.
