Nine people accused of aiding Iranian spies have been sent to a courthouse in Turkey's eastern province of Erzurum, private Dogan news agency reported on Saturday.
The suspects were arrested in neighboring Igdir province following last year's capture of another group spotted taking pictures of sensitive places including the Governor's Office, the National Intelligence Organization and the Police Office in Igdir, the report said.
According to the charges filed against them, the suspects formed an organization aiming to obtain information on state security to spy for Iran.
In a raid on their houses and workplaces, videos of border security units and some weapons were found in their belongings, including an automatic Kalashnikov rifle and some shotguns. |
