A member of the Iranian nuclear negotiating team said that the passage of time in nuclear talks is to Iran's "benefit," local media reported Saturday.
Time is on the side of Iran and Tehran is in no hurry for a resumption of nuclear talks with the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany (P5+1), Seyyed Abbas Araqchi told semi-official Mehr News Agency.
"The passage of time is to our benefit and makes the Islamic republic stronger, therefore they (P5+1) can wait as long as they want and we are not in hurry," Araqchi said.
Tehran's position in nuclear talks with major powers has changed since the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit held in Tehran last month, he said, adding that "Now, our negotiating position is stronger than our position before the summit."
The West suspects that Iran's nuclear program may have weapon dimensions, which was denied by the Islamic republic.
Representatives from Iran and the P5+1 have held their first meeting in 14 months in April in Istanbul, followed by meetings in Baghdad and Moscow.
