Iran unveiled on Monday an ultra- light armored vehicle and an armored personnel carrier which are designed and built by the country's Defense Industries Organization, Press TV reported.

It said Hoveyzeh ultra-light armored vehicle and Talaeiyeh armored personnel carrier were officially unveiled during a ceremony attended by Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi.

Vahidi said that Hoveyzeh armored vehicle can be used in different missions and it can be mounted with various weapons, carry out nocturnal missions and easily be carried by an airplane or helicopter, and it is easy to maintain.

The vehicle can also be used in border outposts to fight brigands, prevent smuggling of goods and narcotics, and conduct other military or police operations, according to the minister.

On Monday, the Islamic republic also "successfully" test-fired the country's latest domestically-manufactured anti-aircraft system, called Ra'd (thunder), Press TV reported.
