Iran's judiciary has jailed the son of Iran's former president Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani, the official IRNA news agency reported on Monday.
Mehdi Hashemi, who returned to Iran from Britain on Sunday, was summoned to a judiciary center in Tehran and was jailed for investigation on the charges that are levelled against him.
Mehdi Hashemi is said to be charged with inciting unrest after a disputed presidential election in Iran in 2009 which led to the re-election of the President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
On Saturday, Iran's judiciary also detained the daughter of Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani to serve her sentence of imprisonment, according to IRNA.
The daughter of Hashemi-Rafsanjani had already been sentenced to six month in jail and a ban from political activities for five years on charges of spreading propaganda against the ruling system in the Islamic republic. |
